Maximize Audience Choice Participation

How to get your audience engaged and participating in audience choice voting

As our audience choice voting functionality has evolved, we've added a number of features to encourage festival attendees to take part in the voting. This articles describes both what SparqFest does to maximize participation as well as suggestions of things you can do.

SparqFest Features

When a viewer watches any content online, SparqFest sends them straight to the audience choice page. There, they see their current eligibility status and the awards they can potentially vote for. Audience Choice Voting is also a key menu item in the profile menu.

We've also provided a “minimum friction” workflow for in-person attendees. They simply need to scan a QR code. That QR code will then credit them with their selection views and take them to the audience choice page.

In early 2023, we will introduce a new feature that will send viewers emails reminding them to vote.

We also continue to actively work on new ways to encourage audience members to vote.

Recommendations for You

Most of the burden of audience choice engage still falls on you and your general audience outreach efforts. We recommend doing the following things to encourage audience choice voting:

  • Let your creators know that you have audience choice awards and get them to mention it in their own marketing
  • Make a note about audience choice voting part of every outbound communication
  • Include information about audience choice voting in your print program, including instructions on how to take part
  • Create special posts on social media to encourage people to participate
  • Make the QR code for in-person voting easy to access with enough visibility to give people time to scan it
